RedWeek vs Timeshare Rental Pros comes down to who carries the work and the risk. RedWeek is a rental marketplace. You pay $79.98 to join and post, set your price, and get paid after your guest checks in, minus a 5% success fee. Timeshare Rental Pros pays you cash for your points up front, before anyone travels, and charges you nothing. Both get your unused time earning money. They do it in opposite ways.
How RedWeek Works
RedWeek (redweek.com) runs a timeshare marketplace. It reports more than 4.2 million users and over $500 million paid to owners. Owners use it to rent out reservations and to sell timeshares.
To rent, you need a RedWeek membership ($19.99 for 12 months) and a confirmed reservation at your resort. RedWeek does not let you post unbooked points for rent. You book the stay first with your points or week, then post that reservation. Wyndham owners are the exception: RedWeek Connect lets them rent without a reservation.
You set the nightly or weekly price, and RedWeek offers pricing guidance. RedWeek verifies the posting, markets it to renters and fields their questions. When a renter books, RedWeek collects the payment and sends you an email. You have 48 hours to accept the booking. You then have another 48 hours to change the reservation to the guest’s name.
RedWeek holds the money until the guest checks in. It starts your payout two business days after check-in, and the transfer typically finishes within 7 days.
You also pick the guest cancellation policy: Flexible, Moderate or Strict.
How Much Does RedWeek Cost Owners?
RedWeek charges owners three ways: a yearly membership, a posting fee and a success fee on each completed rental. RedWeek switched from a flat $99 success fee to 5% of the rental amount on March 30, 2026.
| Fee | Amount | When you pay |
|---|---|---|
| Membership | $19.99 for 12 months | Before you post |
| Rental posting | $59.99 per posting | Before you post |
| Success fee | 5% of the rental amount | Deducted from your payout, only when it rents |
Here is what a single rental in one membership year costs you.*
| Rental price | Total RedWeek cost | You keep | Effective cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| $1,000 | $129.98 | $870.02 | 13.0% |
| $2,000 | $179.98 | $1,820.02 | 9.0% |
| $4,000 | $279.98 | $3,720.02 | 7.0% |
*Our calculation: 5% success fee plus $19.99 membership and $59.99 posting fee, assuming one posting and one rental per year.
The fixed fees weigh most on lower-priced rentals. Owners who post several reservations a year pay the membership once, so their cost per rental drops. If a posting never rents, you are out the $79.98 you paid. RedWeek’s FAQ says purchases are non-refundable, with a few exceptions.
Renters pay a separate RedWeek service fee at checkout. It does not come out of your payout, but it raises the total your guest sees. RedWeek does not publish the amount.
Cancellations carry rules on both sides. Your guest cancellation policy controls refunds to renters:
| Policy | Guest refund |
|---|---|
| Flexible | 100% if canceled at least 65 days before check-in |
| Moderate | 50% if canceled at least 65 days before check-in |
| Strict | No refunds |
RedWeek’s online booking terms say an owner may not cancel a confirmed booking. Its full-service terms set penalties when the owner side cancels anyway.
| Time before check-in | Owner cancellation penalty |
|---|---|
| 65 days or more | 50% |
| Less than 65 days | 100% |

What to Compare Besides Fees
Start with timing. On RedWeek, you pay $79.98 before you know if your reservation will rent. Your payout arrives after the guest checks in. With TRP, money lands in your account before anyone travels.
Next, look at the reservation itself. RedWeek needs a confirmed booking before you post. You commit your points to specific dates and a specific resort, then hope a renter wants them. If nobody books, you may lose those points or pay a club fee to cancel.
Count your own time. A RedWeek rental asks you to book the stay, price it, accept within 48 hours, change the guest name within another 48 hours and track check-in. TRP asks for a form, an offer review and an e-signature.
Finally, weigh pricing control. RedWeek lets you set your own price, so a holiday week at a popular resort can earn more than a fixed offer. TRP sets its offer from current market value. You trade possible upside for a guaranteed amount.
Questions to Ask Any Timeshare Rental Company
- Do I pay anything before my points are rented?
- What percentage of the rental price do I keep?
- Who finds the guest, and who makes the reservation?
- When do I get paid: before or after the stay?
- What happens if the guest cancels, or my club cancels the reservation?
- Is there a contract, annual fee or cancellation fee?
- Which resort brands and points programs do you handle?
Which Option Fits Your Situation?
RedWeek suits owners who already know their club’s booking system and want to set their own price. It works for any resort, including brands TRP doesn’t list. RedWeek’s large audience helps prime weeks rent at market rates. At $4,000 or more, RedWeek’s total cost falls to about 7% or less.*
RedWeek also takes reservations as close as 10 days out. That can rescue a stay you booked and can no longer use.
Timeshare Rental Pros suits owners who want guaranteed money before anyone travels. You don’t book a stay on spec, pay to post or wait for check-in. You need to plan at least 90 days ahead, and you accept a fixed offer instead of setting your own price.
Some owners use both: TRP for points they can commit early, and a marketplace for a reservation they already hold and can’t use.
How Renting Your Points With TRP Works
- Submit your timeshare information. The form takes about 2 minutes, with no obligation.
- Get your cash offer. TRP responds within 24 hours with transparent pricing.
- Accept and sign. Review the one-page contract and e-sign it.
- Get paid up front. Choose bank transfer, PayPal or check.
How to Spot a Timeshare Rental Scam
Rental scams target owners who want to cover maintenance fees. A small, published membership or posting fee on an established marketplace differs from a large fee tied to a promised renter. Read what any fee buys before you pay it. The warning signs below describe common scam tactics, not RedWeek or any other company on this page.
- Upfront “listing,” “appraisal” or “advertising” fees tied to a promised renter
- Unsolicited calls or emails claiming a renter is waiting for your week
- Requests to pay by wire transfer, gift card or crypto
- No physical address or business registration you can verify
- Promises of guaranteed rental income in exchange for an upfront fee
- Requests for your resort account login
Is RedWeek Worth It for Timeshare Owners?
RedWeek is a strong choice for hands-on owners with a reservation they already hold. It brings a large renter audience, lets you set your price and holds the guest’s payment until check-in. On higher-priced rentals, the 5% success fee keeps your total cost low.
The trade-offs are timing and upfront risk. You pay $79.98 before anything rents, you must book the stay first, and you get paid after check-in. On a $1,000 rental, fees take about 13%.*
If you want cash before anyone travels and no owner fees, TRP is the simpler path.
